Hey everyone!

Just a quick update today from me; the show on Saturday went fantastically, and I met a lot of great contacts. I would be a fool if I didn't go back next year! There were so many people at this trade show, there was a line up at the front of the school where it was being held. It was three floors; the basement and the second floor had workshops and vendors; I was on the main floor with all vendors. There were candle makers, female authors, tarot card readers, massage therapists... it was some great fun! My next door neighbor was a registered massage therapist and gave me a fortune cookie with a great fortune inside. I was successful the rest of the day! Sold out of headache relief sticks, nasal congestion relief sticks, Fight Club soap, hand cream sample pots, acne bar samples AND lip balm! (I think it was Pina Colada? I don't remember now lol)

I also just wanted to let everyone know that from now until Friday February 6th I have a 'Make me an offer' sale going on. I am raising some extra funds because I am adopting a three month old baby chinchilla that was brought into the local Humane Society my sister in law works at yesterday. He's still in good health despite being shoved in a box and thrown into the garbage, the poor little babe. He did nothing wrong. He cries a lot (like a whining dog, that's what he sounds like) but he accepted some dried fruit from me and let me scratch him between the ears. He will be coming home on Friday to his forever home! My husband is naming him 'Cobra Commander' because he always played with G.I. Joe's when he was little.

I am looking for some sellers to do a feature on in the coming weeks especially if you are a relatively new seller. All you have to do is comment my blog here and check out my shop!

I've been working a lot lately to get ready for a show I have coming up January 31st; I was considerably worried about doing a show that was going to be all bath and body vendors, but I recently got a list of all the vendors that are going to be there, and I will be the ONLY handmade bath and body company there. All others are Avon, Mary Kay and others like that, so I hope people will give a chance on handmade! I will have two six foot tables in an L position though since this Festival is in a school I do not know where I will be set up until I get there Saturday morning. I got some nice new black sheets to use on the tables and I am going out today to look for some items to use on the tables.

I also have brought my face care line to Etsy, including a cleanser, toner and microdermabrasion cream. I just have to say that I LOVE my microdermabrasion. Leaves your skin so smooth and soft.

Fight Club and Project Wonderful!

Its been a busy month so far; I've got a big show coming up Saturday January 31st, which I am excited and nervous about! It's called Pampering Fest, so ALL the vendors there will have bath and body products, though I am up against people who sell Mary Kay and Avon. They may have an established name but I am hoping they will give all natural items a chance! Plus, I have this really great new soap (its great for the hubby, he couldn't wait to use his bar today!) The color turned out great on this one, I think! The scent is Peppermint Essential Oil, but I have added the option to customize it by listing all my available scents (about fifty) so you can choose the scent! May I just say it is fantastic in a Chai Tea scent?

Also, for anyone looking for Project Wonderful ad space, I am looking for some handmade artists that would like their ads viewed for FREE on my website. It's A Busy Time of Year...

...But I am trying my best to keep up with everything!
ArtFire has been taking a lot of my time lately, but that's alright, because I definitely love that site, and I've been sharing it with everyone lately!

There's something else that I would like to share too; a new little feature on ArtFire! Come Window Shop with us! I've added my own Window Shopping post at the end of this, so if you like what you see, I suggest you pop on over to ArtFire and see what's new. I have tons of new items added in my ArtFire store, including a luxurious coconut creme bar; its great for shaving! That's it there on the left side; doesn't it look fabulous? If you love the scent of coconut, you'll love this bar. It reminds me of being on vacation somewhere tropical, like on my favourite beach in Hawai'i with a Mai Tai. Yum! Who knew a soap could evoke so many memories? haha.

Also, I will beginning to do a lot more custom orders after Christmas; right now there is just too much that needs to be done to allow me any more time to dedicate to making anything brand new yet. I am thinking of bringing in a botanical facial wash and toner; I am not sure if I will sell it in a set though, or offer individual purchase as well. My cocoa butter melts are all made up now and ready for their photo shoot... something I honestly dread. Taking photos. I'm not good at it, no matter how hard I try! Though, I must admit, I do like how the coconut bar photographed... I will keep working on it.

Craft Show Today!

This morning was the Welland Lions Community Center craft show to raise funds for the Welland Humane Society and Hope Center. The event was only my third show; the two previous I had done were both for schools; one for Park Public School in Grimsby and one for St. Thomas More Elementary School and both went very well, despite how nervous I was!

I was up at 7am after four hours sleep (I was up making soap, I can't help it!) and ignoring the very brisk weather, we were on our way to the show. It went from 10am to 5pm, with set up beginning at 9am, and there was a great treat when we got free coffee, tea, biscuits and donuts before the start of the show. A very appriciated touch, I may say. Like I said, I've only just started doing the shows, so its always new and I'm never quite sure what to expect.

The show started out slow, but there were some really great vendors. The organizer of it all went to great lengths to make sure all of the vendors were actual crafters, which was great to see; while its convenient for some people to have Avon and Tupperware at shows, I think its a lot better to see what people have to offer that they've made themselves. At this show though, there were bakers, painters, scrapbookers and more; I was the only soaper so I lucked out; though the organizer tried to keep away from booking tables with the same product, so I felt honoured to be the first to be able to nab the soaping spot!

Sales were slow for most people throughout the day; about noon it started to rain and the wind was high and completely chilling, and it drove a lot of people away. Always good to keep high spirits though, and I had a great neighbour next to me that not only had great products (sandblasting boulders with terrific artwork on them, including Chinese proverbs) but we had a lot to talk about when it was slow.

All in all, it was a good day for me, though overall it was slow, probably due to the weather. Of course, shows are always hit and miss, and I think the organizer did a terrific job advertising (two radio stations, newspaper, television, flyers and in a Santa Claus parade) and I was glad to hear that they got three large boxes full of food for the Hope Center and a couple hundred dollars to buy pet food for the Humane Society. Unfortunately, not everyone was very happy and turned to the organizer and were very rude about the whole situation. The table fee was donated to the Humane Society, so it was a great cause but some people were still very bitter, left early and gave the organizer a piece of their mind. I understand that its a gamble doing shows, but I have fun whether I'm making sales or not; its all about networking!

That's all for now though; I will try to get some photos of my table up soon. I am also going to be hosting a contest too, so look out for that being posted later tonight! I also have to make some more soap; I am starting up a new dog line so I have to get on that, and I almost sold out of all my lip balms at today's show, so I have to make more of those too. So busy!
